My first concept was quickly sketched on a notepad and I wanted it to bristle with guns. The SF gun trucks in use at the time were completely open and quite vulnerable. My idea was to take the ambulance version of the Humvee, armor it, and arm it.
This is my original concept sketch for what would become a 1:6 scale model of a concept Gun Truck. The 1:6 scale Gun Truck concept work in progress. I used the Hasbro Humvee for the chassis and built the shell around it using styrene plastic and acrylic. It was a great challenge to scale the plans, find enough sheets, rods, and strips, and build it to fit the shell perfectly onto the chassis. The shell is removable for transport and is quite sturdy.
